Caricature

Funky Doodles is a caricature and illustration service that specialises in live, exciting, in-person caricature sessions. Bringing a sense of fun, entertainment, a lot of laughs and interaction to weddings, corporate events, parties...anywhere!

Hi there, I'm Rory!

I'm Funky Doodles, a caricature artist and illustrator based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Funky Doodles officially started in 2018, but I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember.

From making cartoons of my teachers in school, to doodling over napkins in restaurants growing up, my earliest memories all involve drawing.

It is my passion and I love that I can share it and bring joy to others through my work.

about me

(and my drawing)

My love of art and cartoons started at an early age when I would rush home from school to watch The Looney Tunes, not because of the silly story or catchy soundtrack, but because I was in awe of the artwork. The idea that someone created and animated these characters with just a pencil had me hooked!

It wasn’t long before my own drawings got me noticed, and on the odd occasion into trouble, like the time my dad handed out books at a community event, only for them to discover the first page of each book had a squiggly drawing of Fred Flintstone, signed by yours truly!

From there my self-teaching continued (which mainly involved copying the art from all my favourite cartoons!) until I formally studied art and eventually got involved in painting seasonal window graphics for local businesses.

This quickly developed into also providing art commissions and live caricatures at weddings and corporate parties. Since then, I have become one of Northern Ireland’s most established live caricature artists, travelling across the country for events.

Hold up...

you've got a question?

Fire away!

Here are some of the common questions I get asked about my caricature services - if you have a question, maybe it's answered here! If not, just drop me a line and I'll get back to you!

At a wedding or live event, it takes about four minutes to draw each person. When I’m doing personal commissions, each drawing can take two weeks to produce, that’s including print and delivery time.

The best thing is just to get in touch and then we can figure out if your event is a good fit! Most of my requests are for caricature Belfast but I often travel further for caricature Northern Ireland too, as well as the border counties (Louth, Monaghan, etc). My ability to travel will depend on my schedule at the time, so the best thing is simply drop me an email with the details of your event and I’ll get back to you.

Absolutely, it’s yours to do with as you please – frame it, put it in an underground vault, use it to help light the fire, or make an NFT out of it.

All drawings are on A3 sized paper.

Yes, a digital proof will be sent for your approval before it’s shipped off to the printer.
